Ease Homework Pain With These Tips
Suddenly there isn’t as much play time…it’s homework time. And homework time isn’t always enjoyable. Here are some tips to ease homework pain.
LEARN CONCEPTS AT AN EARLY AGE
You don’t have to wait until the subject is taught in school to teach your child. This is when it’s helpful to get a tutor to get a head start on those basic concepts. Reading, Writing and Math are all subjects where strong basic skills makes it easy to succeed.
SET OUT A SCHEDULE
It’s not realistic to ask your child to do their homework right after school. Children need to unwind and enjoy some unstructured time. Set a schedule for homework tasks and stick to them. This creates a structure for your child and allows them to know how the evening goes.
MAKE HOMEWORK A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE
Many parents ask how this is even possible? By having a tutor support your child, school becomes easier and homework becomes much more enjoyable. When it’s not a struggle to finish a math problem, your child feels accomplished and ready to succeed. Encourage your child when they have completed an assignment.
LET THEM HAVE SOME CONTROL
Unless they’re asking for help, don’t interfere. It’s hard for a child to constantly be asked questions about the task they’re working on. It’s fair to want to be involved in their homework and know that’s been completed; just know when to ask. Children who have tutors can ask them for homework support.
